Harvesting the first head of ‘Graffiti’ cauliflower is the day I’ve waited for since planting the seeds in August. I do like cauliflower, but I may like the color of ‘Graffiti’ even more. This one weighed 1 lb. 7 oz.

I have five more ‘Graffiti’ coming along and six each of ‘Amazing’ (white) cauliflower and Romanesco. All are happily growing one foot apart in a 4x7x2 foot raised bed.

Here’s a view of most of the 18 plants taken about a month ago before heads formed.

Making a salad for lunch yesterday with garden lettuce I hesitated to add any other garden vegetables. Just settled on a magenta theme.

There’s nothing remarkable about the harvest of a single radish, except that this one is magenta and perfect.

‘Premium Crop’ broccoli, not to be outdone by cauliflower, produced a 1 lb. 9 oz. head this week. Another ten planted in succession will keep us in broccoli for several months since side shoots are abundant with ‘Premium Crop.’

Before Christmas I made garden gift plates for neighbors. Nights in the 40’s keep the lettuce growing without bolting.

Just when we need some cheer and relief from the sadness of the pandemic, narcissus show up in the street side garden. Walk by and you’ll see them now.
