In My San Diego Garden and Kitchen
The most notable recent harvest was the second crop of Dorsett Golden apples from our small espaliered tree. Mid-June we usually have a more substantial first crop. This low-chill variety is useful for cooking and eating and is self-fruitful. Read more at Dave Wilson Nursery.
Applesauce, baked apples and Thanksgiving apple galette ahead.
Red bell peppers have slowed but I’m letting the last ones ripen before removing the plants for other crops. Baby Belle peppers also continue.
I’m harvesting outer leaves of the Rosaine and Bibb lettuces and relishing the first seasonal salads. Arugula will be ready soon.
Sunday’s church entry bouquet of leucadendron, verbena and cuphea.
Check the What I’m Planting Now page as I plant the cool season garden.
