In My San Diego Garden and Kitchen
Just a quick post this week. Likely we’re all busy with the holidays. Quick views, short on commentary works for me.
That’s the third Premium Crop broccoli I’ve picked and this one weighed in at 1 pound 5 oz.
Purple Magic broccoli from Territorial Seed Co. is a new variety to me. Plants are large and claim to fame is the purple stem. I’ll be steaming some for dinner with report upcoming. The purple broccoli like Jacaranda are gorgeous in salads.
Lettuce is abundant and salads are regular. Fuyu persimmons and pomegranates were garden gifts from friends.
For a soup, I chopped the last of the carrots harvested and stored last May.
Most of the second harvest of Dorsett Golden apples were transformed into the best applesauce I can remember in recent years.
Flowers are sparse in my garden so I’ll share a spectacular ginkgo tree from last week on the UC San Diego Health campus. On the way to an appointment I paused to take it in. It was glorious in the morning light.
Check the What I’m Planting Now page as I continue to plant and succession sow in the cool season garden.
