City Farmers Nursery

19 November 2010

I knew about City Farmers Nursery.  I’ve sent people there for soil to fill raised beds, but I had never been there.  What a delight!

When I couldn’t find elephant garlic online at Peaceful Valley Farm Supply or locally, I called City Farmers Nursery. They had elephant garlic and at least five other varieties of garlic. Wooden garden labels have been supplanted by plastic in most catalogs and nurseries, but I found them reasonably priced at City Farmers. Also picked up some heirloom spinach seeds from their wide selection of organic Seeds of Change offerings.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wandered through only part of the two acre nursery. Unique offerings include organic soil amendments, worm bins, canning supplies, bulk native plant seeds, and Radio-Flyer wagons. Farm animals, chickens and a children’s play area make it a family destination too. Learn more at www.cityfarmersnursery.com
