Farewell to Spring growing in a native plant garden, Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma. I walk by it almost every day.

My mother recalls, as a child, seeing Farewell to Spring growing on the hills above Laguna Beach. Imagine the scene…

Also known as Elegant Clarkia (Clarkia unguiculata). Growing information here and here. It’s adaptable–coastal to woodland gardens.
