In My San Diego Garden and Kitchen 3/7/16

It is the first week for the yellow edible-podded peas. These few and a small head of cauliflower went to a gardening friend who stopped by to give me some advice on a native plant garden.

Only two of the seven ‘Graffiti’ cauliflower remain but each one is a treasure. The blue-green foliage cools the hot magenta.

Here’s the same head of cauliflower with a same day harvest of broccoli.

Though there are only two heads of broccoli left, this bouquet of broccoli side shoots reminds me the season will continue for many weeks.

And these days it’s easy to fill my basket with Tuscan kale. This is for my son and his wife who do love kale.
