Yellow Hooded Orioles and Citrus

May 1, 2013

image

This orange dropped from our tree recently. I suspect a hooded oriole. They dine on fruit, nectar, insects and spiders. I’ve seen these orioles in my yard on occasion, but not recently. Favored nesting spots are Washington fan palm trees, which line my street.

The above video shows a hooded oriole flitting about an orange tree in southern California.

Listen to the song and chatter of hooded orioles here.
