My Favorite Farmers Market

My Favorite Farmers Market

I spent last week with my sister and family who live in the Portland area. When visiting, I try to take in the Beaverton Farmers Market, my very favorite to visit in late spring. Offerings include produce I cannot grow like the above radicchio, (though I’ve tried).

Oh to have red (instead) of green rhubarb for colorful desserts. The strawberries were red through the center and much more flavorful than SoCal varieties. I’ve grown sprouting broccoli with only limited success but I can admire what the Oregon farmer offers. Who else brings edible cornflowers to the market?

Some offerings from other farms.

We finished our visit with a sampling of fabulous empanadas. I chose Corn and Parmesan.
