Finally, something other than cucumbers from the garden. These Baby Belle Peppers from Renee’s Garden are annual favorites. They’re available long before my green or red bell peppers. The short bushes are busy and productive. Though they mature to red and orange, I pick larger ones green as needed. Cut in half and cleaned of seeds they freeze well for use during the winter months

My not-so-favorite Suyo cucumbers are prolific. I’ll give them marks for good flavor and crispness but I miss my usual Chelsea Prize cakes. These are only three of five I harvested last week.

Sierra Batavian Lettuce, is purportedly one of the most bolt-resistant summer varieties. It’s doing well in the partial sun location with additional shade protection. The lettuce is crisp and with a slight red tinge. The midrib gives it some heft for salads. Check Fedco Seeds for a complete description. I used it for summery chicken tostadas sans cilantro.

The “yet to come” Raven zucchini, Emerite pole beans, Sugar Pearl corn and Cranberry and Buckeye dry beans. My spring and winter gardens extended into June so now I must be patient for the summer crops.

Ambridge roses, medium-sized rosettes in pale apricot and with a delicate, unforgettable fragrance, sometimes described as myrrh.

If you have a few minutes check my Resources page for some of my favorite and most useful garden resources. Then head to Harvest Monday, hosted by Dave at Happy Acres blog and see what garden bloggers around the world harvested last week.
