In My Garden, Early November
The cool season garden is underway. The rains have come. The weeds and pests are fewer. I anticipate the harvests ahead.
Cabbage moths persist so after the shade cloth was removed for the extreme heat, the row cover was put in place. Premium Crop broccoli and Jacaranda broccoli under wraps.
Cauliflower, Amazing and Graffiti also covered for a few more weeks.
Sweet peas protected from birds as they grow toward the trellis. Golden Sweet Snow Peas recently planted and settled in by recent rains.
Tango celery and Iceland poppies protected from mauraders.
Likewise, arugula and two varieties of seed-grown lettuce.
Violetta artichoke from northern Italy.
Bearss limes in a patio container and Satsuma tangerines show promise.
Pots of narcissus and grape hyacinth replenished with bone meal and compost benefit from the rains.
Rainwater here from the metal garage roof and about 450 gallons in two rain tanks will benefit the growing garden veggies.
Late bloomers for Sunday’s church entry bouquet.
See my What I’m Planting Now page for more details of planting dates and seed choices.
