Harvest Monday: Zucchini and 'Sunset Shades'

August 13, 2012

I returned from vacation Saturday to find zucchini–all sizes–in the garden. Of course, garden tenders picked zucchini in my absence and still this bounty. The variety is ‘Raven’ from Renee’s Garden Seeds, a compact bush style zucchini I grow every year.

Since zucchini is rather ordinary, I added some summer color from the flower garden: Thunbergia alata 'Sunset Shades.’ The black-eyed Susan vine covers the wall of my front terrace and thrives in the summer sun. Here in coastal San Diego it blooms year-round and reseeds easily.

I’m expecting tomatoes for next week’s Harvest Monday. The 'Indigo Rose,’ a purple tomato I’ve been waiting to sample should be ripe.

Harvest Monday is hosted by Daphne’s Dandelions. It’s a time to share what you’re harvesting in your garden or how you’re using it.
