In My San Diego Garden and Kitchen
It is almost spring on the calendar and it is definitely spring in my gardens. We came home from a trip to Costa Rica and found sweet peas in full bloom, blossoms on the apricot and apple trees, broccoli plants brimming with side shoots and a glorious array of spring blooms in the street side garden.
Two large volunteer events and vacation kept me from posting for almost a month, but hopefully I’m back to my usual. Read on and see what’s happening in my garden.
Fruit has set on the Dorsett Golden apple tree since I took this photo about ten days ago.
Bountiful Blue blueberries are coming along in the patio container.
We’re relishing the last few Satsuma tangerines even as the blossoms and new growth say spring.
Interplanting my lettuce with smaller calendulas worked well.
Chitted Yukon Gem potatoes went in the ground last week. More on that later. We’ll save broccoli, lettuce, arugula and spinach for the next post.
For now enjoy the bicolor sweet peas and think about when you’ll be able to plant your sweet peas if you live in a cold winter region.
Check the What I’m Planting Now page as I continue to plant and succession sow in the cool season garden and begin to think about the warm season garden.
